JAN 27 : ORANGE WINES / SKIN MACERATION
JAN 27 : ORANGE WINES / SKIN MACERATION
Orange Wine / Skin Maceration
What is an Orange Wine? What is Skin Maceration? What rhymes with Orange?
The media and marketing around this category of wine would have you thinking that these wines are the definition of the 'New scene of natural, funky and hipster wines’…but are they?
Skin Maceration wines have been around since the dawn of early wine making! Emerging quietly out of the East and now capturing the imagination of the West these wines offer a plethora of aroma and flavours yet with even more energy than the so called classic wines.
Funky and wild like an underground mosh-pit to being sublime and as poetic as an Apollinaire calligram. These wines need to be experienced in context with an open mind and palate.
These wines offer ideal food pairings for the various food cultures and flavours that make up the Toronto-Canadian dining scene. Farm to table cooking to multi-layered fine dining tasting menus Orange wines do the work.
In this session we explore the wonderful world of flavours produced from these wines, the origin of this technique, and how they defy being pigeon-holed.
