Riesling
There are very few grapes in the world that possess the character to make a diversity of wines styles. Riesling in all its glory can be dry to off dry, still or sparkling, classic to orange wined, late-harvested to ice wined yet still remain true to form.
Found in all corners where there is wine, often overlooked for fear of sweetness. So here we are at the tip of a shimmering sun-kissed, honey-lemon scented, slate-stone-mineral tense iceberg called Riesling. To taste Riesling it can be as fresh as a winter morning but as gentle as sunlight. The duality of this grape and where it grows in the Rhine, Germany and in Alsace, France, can be compared, studied, tasted and simply adored.
In this Riesling study we start with Alsace and the Rhine Region - 2 sides of the same coin. Have no fear, for Riesling can be the connector for some many moments, from low alcohol session wines under 10% abv - to ageworthy blockbusters for the cellar sitting beside your white Burgundy. You only have to taste and find out.
